Agent-basedmodeling(ABM)isacomputationalapproachusedtosimulatetheactionsandinteractionsofautonomousagentswithinasystem.Theseagentscanrepresentindividuals,organizations,orotherentities,eachfollowingpredefinedrules.ABMallowsresearcherstostudycomplexsystemsbyobservinghowsimpleagentbehaviorsleadtoemergentpatternsatthemacrolevel.Itiswidelyappliedinfieldslikeeconomics,socialsciences,biology,andurbanplanning.Unliketraditionalmodeling,ABMcapturesheterogeneityamongagentsandtheiradaptivebehaviors,makingitusefulforstudyingdynamic,nonlinearsystemswhereinteractionsplayakeyrole.Themethodreliesoncomputersimulationstoexplorescenariosandtesthypothesesthatmaybedifficulttoexaminethroughreal-worldexperiments.
