Inositol1,4,5-trisphosphatereceptors(IP3Rs)havebeenidentifiedasautoantibodytargetantigensinpatientswithSjögren'ssyndromeandothersystemicautoimmunedisorders.ThisfindinghighlightsthepotentialroleofIP3Rsinthepathogenesisoftheseconditions,asautoantibodiesagainstthesereceptorsmaydisruptintracellularcalciumsignalingandcontributetodiseaseprogression.UnderstandingtheinvolvementofIP3Rsinautoimmuneresponsescouldprovidenewinsightsintodiseasemechanismsandopenavenuesfortargetedtherapeuticinterventions.FurtherresearchisneededtoelucidatethepreciseroleoftheseautoantibodiesandtheirclinicalimplicationsinSjögren'ssyndromeandrelatedsystemicautoimmunediseases.
